Myth, Religion, and Race: the Art of Harmonia Rosales Lecture Series
Video Recording Now Available (click below):
The first talk of the Myth, Religion, and Race: the Art of Harmonia Rosales Lecture Series will place Harmonia Rosales’ work in conversation with ongoing debates in the (elastic and shifting) field of Black classicism. It will examine how Rosales collapses the distance between ancient Greek and Yoruba mythologies, in a move that clears space for the representation of classicism as fundamentally and insistently Afro-diasporic in form and substance.
Dan-el Padilla Peralta is Associate Professor of Classics at Princeton University. His research and teaching focus is the Roman Republic and early Empire. He also works on classical reception in contemporary American and Latin American cultures.
